As a sex therapist, Jenna Couture deals with all kinds of crazy situations. She joins Jennifer Tapiero and Josh Nasar on this episode of Planet Love Match Radio to share an unusual experience, explain why most affairs happen with co-workers, and discuss different types of bonding.
"I had a situation where a guy was intimate with a girl? and he had cheated and he ended up telling her while they were having sex," Jenna says. "You think that's common sense. Not a good time to talk!"
She explains that her client basically just felt a lot of guilt and just had to get it out.
Then Jen confesses that while she has never cheated, she has been cheated on. Josh adds that more women than men are having affairs these days but Jenna contributes that statistic to women just not getting caught.
"67% of affairs happen in the workplace," Jenna states. She goes on to explain how people spend a lot of time with co-workers and they may share information that implies leaks in the marriage which co-workers can capitalize on that.
Josh says that kind of compares to trauma bonding.
"If you share your trauma with me? I can counsel, or I can be like 'Oh I went through that too', so now we're on the same side," Josh says. Sharing too much too soon in a new relationship can lead to trauma bonding which they agree should be avoided.
