NBA Baller Beats for Xbox 360 encourages you to play ball in the house

Image

Forget everything your mother told you about playing ball in the house, Majesco thinks it's a terrific idea. NBA Baller Beats takes a rhythmic music game-like approach to the game of roundball, incorporating a real live basketball as a controller for the Xbox 360 title, as part of its full-body tracking Kinect action. And in case you're having trouble motivating off the couch, the gamemakers have brought the likes of Kanye, Run DMC, The Gorillaz and Common to help get you to your feet. Just make sure you remove that priceless antique vase from the living room before you do. At present, all we've got is a teaser trailer, which you can check out after the break. More info is coming at E3.

O2 UK launches new wallet service, helps you empty yours (video)

O2 UK launches new wallet service, helps you empty yours (video)

This may not be the UK operators first attempt at dipping its fingers logo into your pockets, but O2's new mobile wallet does bring with it some de rigeur functionality. Taking a leaf out of Barclays' book, the new app lets you send "Money Messages," essentially text-driven money transfers to any phone number. There's smart-shopping features, too, such as a barcode reader for price comparisons, and daily discount deals to stop the well from going dry too soon. Interestingly, you can also apply for a physical companion card, based on Visa's pre-pay service to bring your virtual wallet into the real world. Not an O2 customer? Doesn't matter, apparently, and the app is "compatible with the majority of smartphones as well as iPads" which we guess means iOS at least, and Android, too, judging by the phones shown in the video after the break.

Who Are the World's Most Beautiful Women?

People has unveiled its issue honoring the world's most beautiful women both inside and out. And while plenty of gorgeous ladies -- from 21-year-old Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence and 23-year-old singing sensation Adele to 42-year-old Jennifer Lopez (last year's list-topper) and 47-year-old Sandra Bullock -- made the cut for the magazine's "Beautiful at Every Age" feature... only one woman could claim the honor of People's World's Most Beautiful Woman. And the title goes to... Beyonce!

'Django Unchained' First Look: Leonardo DiCaprio Heads South

Quentin Tarantino's Western also stars Christoph Waltz.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

For years, Quentin Tarantino has toyed with the Western, peppering homages to directors like Sergio Leone into "Kill Bill" and "Inglourious Basterds," but now the director is finally taking on the genre with "Django Unchained," albeit in his own twisted way.

Most of Tarantino's secrets have stayed on the set, but Thursday (April 26) Entertainment Weekly debuted the first official look at just how far west Tarantino is going in "Django Unchained."

What separates the film from your usual Western is that it's actually what Tarantino calls a "southern," taking place primarily in the pre-Civil War South. The first photos show off the unique style of the film and reveal what Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz will look like when "Django Unchained" opens in theaters on December 25.

The photo of Foxx and Waltz could be straight out of a traditional Western. Foxx, as title character Django, carries his saddle over his shoulder and wears a prototypical cowboy hat. His companion, Dr. King Schultz, played by Waltz, is a German dentist-turned-bounty-hunter, and his more sophisticated getup reflects that.

It isn't until we see DiCaprio's evil plantation owner, Calvin Candie, that we find the connection to the Deep South. In the photo, DiCaprio is dressed up like a fine Southern gentleman, but he poses menacingly with a hammer in his hand.

EW spoke with Foxx about working on the sure-to-be controversial film, which addresses slavery like never before.

"There's a beautiful way [Tarantino] found for the characters to talk to each other. It's mind-blowing. You've never heard it this way," Fox told the magazine. "You've seen movies deal with slavery — or Westerns that never dealt with slavery — do it the safe way. This way is like ... wow."

Check out everything we've got on "Django Unchained."

Exclusive: Teresa Giudice Apologizes: "I Miss My Friends And Family"

teres1_wide.jpg
As she watched the April 22 premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice longed to turn back the hands of time. Here were the women she was once closest to ? now all discussing how much they can?t stand her. ?Things have gotten out of hand,? Teresa admits to In Touch. ?I want to accept responsibility for the things I did wrong. I?m truly sorry.?

Teresa?s tearful olive branch stems from an epiphany she had while playing for a charity on Celebrity Apprentice. ?All of this drama seemed insignificant after I was exposed to people with real problems.? And so, in an attempt to bury the hatchet, Teresa, 39, has written open letters to Jacqueline, Melissa, Kathy and Caroline. ?I wish I could take it all back and start over,? she confesses.

In her open letter to Jacqueline, Teresa writes, "Dear Jacqueline, I wish we could have resolved things sooner because I?m sincerely sorry for up setting y ou ? and I?m sorry I didn?t respond to your apology on Twitter. I feel like things have gotten out of hand, which is sad. I miss our friendship. I miss being like Lucy and Ethel with you. And so I hope we can work through these problems one day, when you are ready. Teresa xoxo"

To read all of Teresa's open letters to her former friends, pick up this week's issue of In Touch.

Google Drive is coming to Linux, tells users to 'hang tight'

Google Drive is coming to Linux, tells users to 'hang tight'

As you may know, there is at least one out and proud Ubuntu devotee on staff. So, when Google Drive was announced, there were a few grumbles from those who noticed Linux was absent from the list of supported platforms. Especially in the wake of Picasa for Linux, many were afraid that Big G was slowly killing off it's (comparably) robust support of the open-source OS. But, rest easy, in addition to Dropbox and Ubuntu One, soon enough you'll be able to use Google's offering as well. Google Docs community manager Teresa Wu (we assume, soon enough, that will be Google Drive community manager) swung by a potential customer's Google+ profile to assuage his ire over the lack of Linux support. The message, while not very detailed, was quite clear: "we're working on Linux support -- hang tight!?"

Tony Lucca Channels Britney Spears on The Voice

Cheesa's Whitney Houston cover brought the house down, but Tony Lucca's unorthodox song choice also served notice that he's a contender on The Voice:

"Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears.

Lucca, who was famously slammed by Christina Aguilera a few weeks back, came up with a terrific rebuttal against his fellow former Mousketeer.

This rocking version of Brit's breakout hit:

"That was really smart," Blake Shelton said of the bold song pick, which got him through until at least tonight. His coach, Adam Levine, added, "You did something different and refreshing and I'm so proud of you for having the courage to do it."

Will America vote Tony through to the semifinals tonight?

If not, do you think Adam (who cut Pip loose on last night's instant elimination episode) will take his protege to the next round? Tell us below.

Galaxy Nexus, Viper and Optimus Elite now available on Sprint

Sprint Android phones

Today sees the launch of three new smartphones on Sprint's network. First up is Google's current flagship device, the Galaxy Nexus. Sprint has the CDMA/LTE variant, which is very similar to the Verizon LTE version currently doing the rounds in the U.S. There's the same 720p HD SuperAMOLED display and 1.2GHz dual-core CPU that GNex owners have been enjoying since late 2011, and we're sure Sprint customers will be eager to get their hands on their very own version of the current Android flagship.

Next up is the LG Viper, an entry-level 4G LTE device for customers looking for a good all-round LTE smartphone. Inside you'll find a 1.2GHz processor along with NFC, Google Wallet and hotspot capability on top of a 4-inch WVGA NOVA display.

Finally, there's the Optimus Elite, which we got to play with just a few days ago at its launch event.  It's definitely an entry-level device, with a 3.5-inch HVGA display and 5MP camera. But if you're not looking for anything too fancy from you Android smartphone experience, you could definitely do a lot worse.

ITC issues preliminary ruling, finds Microsoft's Xbox 360 infringes on Motorola patents

ITC issues preliminary ruling, finds Microsoft's Xbox 360 infringes on Motorola patents

Potential bad news to start out the week for Microsofties: a judge from the US International Trade Commission has issued a preliminary ruling that finds Microsoft's Xbox 360 infringes on five of Motorola's patents. While the decision is by no means final -- which means that the Redmond outfit could ultimately prevail -- a final ruling would force Microsoft's hand to seek proper licenses for the technologies, most of which relate to H.264 video encoding, or have its gaming console banned from US shelves. For now, the lawyers will go back to the lab to refine their arguments and get ready to present them to a full panel of ITC judges later this year. Who wants to set odds on the outcome?
